Seunghee Shin

Show Artworks

Biography

Seunghee Shin explores the interface where the materiality of nature meets human intervention. With a background in ceramic art (Seoul) and a design diploma from Hochschule Niederrhein, she translates her tactile sensitivity into painting, combining Eastern spiritual traditions with contemporary abstraction.

Shin primes her canvases with earth, stone dust, and sand to create an earthy, clay-like texture. Using a singular cobalt palette and gravity as the primary force, she allows pigments to flow in a state of "Panta Rhei" (everything flows). Her multi-layered "blue landscapes" visualize invisible energies—time, gravity, and the "breath of the soul"—and offer spaces for deep contemplation.

Her work has been recognized by the Gangdong Foundation for Arts & Culture, the Korea Ceramic Foundation, and the Korean Embassy in the Netherlands.
Her works are held in collections such as the Yanggu Porcelain Museum and the law firm Kim & Chang. Most recently, she was selected for the Taunus Art Triennial 2025 and exhibited at the Hofheim City Museum.
