The Bakerhouse Gallery was founded in 2017 by visionary gallerist Klaus Billinger and internationally acclaimed artist Tom Lohner. With the arrival of esteemed art collector Christof Schell—coinciding with the move into our spacious new gallery premises—a bold idea evolved into a powerful trio that today leads one of Austria’s most influential platforms for Urban and Contemporary Art.

What began in a 120 m² attic above the 450-year-old imperial and royal Hofbäckerei Edegger in Graz has since grown into a cultural powerhouse—a refuge for artistic excellence and a magnet for collectors, creatives, and forward-thinking minds.

Today, our gallery spans more than 1,200 m² in the raw, pulsating heart of Graz’s former slaughterhouse district. This industrial charm provides the perfect stage for immersive exhibitions that push boundaries, celebrate diversity, and ignite dialogue.

At the Bakerhouse Gallery, we do more than curate exhibitions—we create experiences. With a refined sense for aesthetic innovation and emotional depth, we represent a carefully selected group of extraordinary artists: emerging voices and established positions distinguished by visionary strength, artistic integrity, and the courage to be different. Many have collaborated with icons such as Damien Hirst or Banksy—yet each brings something unforgettable of their own.

But the gallery is more than a space—it is a platform. A hotspot for visionary events that connect art with business, politics, and society. Through exclusive VIP dinners, thematic cultural salons, and international collaborations—from Vienna to Japan—we redefine how and where art can be experienced.

Driven by Klaus Billinger’s extraordinary ability to connect people and stories, Tom Lohner’s artistic mastery, and Christof Schell’s strategic collecting expertise, the Bakerhouse Gallery has become a place where collectors fall in love, artists feel at home, and ideas come to life.

We are not only Austria’s leading gallery for Urban and Contemporary Art—we are shaping the future of how art inspires the world.
