Penelope

Like the ancient Penelope, who waited twenty years for the return of her Odysseus, the woman in this picture lives in two worlds.

The right side shows her daytime appearance: sharply defined, composed, and anchored in cold reality. It is the mask of someone who functions while the world around her continues to turn. But in the glow of the red light, she becomes her own prisoner.

The hands that pull them out of reality are their own.
One hand drags her mind back to yesterday, away from reason, while the other attempts an imaginary embrace – an attempt to give herself the security that disappeared with Odysseus.
It is the moment when one's own longing becomes a phantom. An eternal dance with oneself, in which the body remains stuck in the present.

It is the silent struggle to maintain one's composure for the world, while secretly clinging to the echoes of the past so as not to be completely alone.
