Penelope

Like the ancient Penelope, who waited twenty years for the return of her Odysseus, the woman in this picture lives in two worlds.

The right side shows her daytime form: sharply defined, composed, and anchored in cool reality. It is the mask of someone who functions while the world around her continues. Yet, in the glow of the red light, she becomes her own prisoner.

The hands that pull her from reality are her own.
One hand drags her mind back to yesterday, away from reason, while the other prepares for an imaginary embrace – an attempt to give herself the security that vanished with Odysseus.
It is the moment when her own longing becomes a phantom. An eternal dance with herself, where the body remains in the present.

It is the silent struggle to maintain composure for the world, while secretly clinging to the echoes of the past so as not to be completely alone.
