This work is inspired by the life of Livia Drusilla (58 BC – 29 AD), the third wife of the Roman Emperor Augustus. Livia was considered one of the most influential women of her time — revered, feared, and surrounded by legends to this day. Contemporary sources accused her of manipulating and even poisoning her husband in order to pave the way for her son Tiberius to ascend to the imperial throne.
